BORN IN ISRAEL
Odelya Yehudyan, a resident artist of Tel Aviv, connects with rare and delicate talent that characterize her world, sources of inspiration, and dreams. Her paintings liken no other.
Odelya’s art captivates observers through special colors, vitality and mysterious hints that transport the viewer through an emotional and international experience to the mystical worlds and mysteries of yesteryear.
As a child growing up in an Iranian home, aesthetics were inherent in culture and education. Odelya was influenced by everything delighting the senses around her; the art of the Persian miniatures and the delicate tools surrounding them, the intricately woven carpets, captivating smells and unique flavors from the kitchen, and sounds ranging from the spoken word to canorous song.
Culture and entertainment are woven throughout Odelya’s art. Her works deal with the connection between man and nature, the spiritual and the physical, the tangible and the abstract, the canvas against the brush, the figurative versus the abstract. In the monologue- “With the Creator”, her first exhibition, Odelya opens the door for the viewer to a new world of powerful visual expression; a world of hues, aspirational textures and dreams.
Odelya reveals, “I like to paint with my fingers and hands, feel the touch of color and create as much as I can, with absolute spontaneity.” She emphasizes that the softness of the strokes of the paint brush strokes on canvas and the creation process captivate her.
In her paintings, Odleya uses a unique acrylic on canvas technique and wraps everything in metaphorical lights, literal beams of light, and delicate pastel colors. As a traditional Jewish woman, Odelya pours the words and letters that build life itself into a great deal of her works. With a delicate technique she weaves her hands within the paintings themselves, blending them into her canvas fabrics.
